Cereal mogul WK Kellogg had a fixation with number 7
July 14the this year is revered by some people as “Seven Heaven”. That’s because 7-14-21 is 7 times 2, times 3. The founder of Battle Creek, Michigan’s grain giant, Kellogg Company, would be one of those people. WK Kellogg had a fixation, and some might say an obsession with number 7.
- He was born on April 7 the seventh day of the week
- Kellogg was the seventh son in his family.
- His father, born in 1807, was the seventh child in his family.
- Kellogg had seven grandsons
- There are seven letters in the name Kellogg
- He belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church
- When Kellogg was traveling, he would stay on the seventh floor of a hotel in a room ending with the number seven.
Visitors to the WK Kellogg Mansion and Gardens on Gull Lake saw firsthand how Mr. Kellogg incorporated number 7 into the house. It was built in 1925 for $ 400,000 and was called “Eagle Heights”. The architect was commissioned to use seven throughout the house as much as possible.
The house has:
- Seven entrance doors.
- Seven bedrooms.
- Seven bathrooms.
- Seven pinions.
- There is a reference seven in most rooms.
- The original domain had seven structures.
Much of the decor in the home includes Rookwood ceramic tiles. This is especially noticeable in the bathrooms which have seen it from floor to ceiling, the entrance where it makes up the floor and around the fireplaces. The tile is completely custom designed and a close inspection reveals that the number 7 can be found in the drawings.
WK Kellogg once said:
“If a Seven is good, Seven the seven should be better. Who can fail to achieve anything with a combination of Seven times seven in the family!
Kellogg built his winter ranch in Pomona, Calif., Shaped like a seven. It has seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and seven patio doors. Franz Braun, who was giving tours of the Kellogg House, wrote on Facebook that the house had seven fireplaces but two were fake. The beams in the bedrooms were often seven in number. The house measures 8,777 square feet. Paneling would often be seven blocks across or seven vertically.
Nicole Kokx works at Kellogg Manor House and said the grounds of the estate remain open for self-guided walking tours from dawn to dusk. “You are welcome to take a historical walking guide through our brochure holder on the mansion office doors.”
