ISIL / Daesh and Al-Qaida: the sanctions regime extended until 3 …


(MENAFN- Caribbean News Global) BRUSSELS, Belgium – The European Council (EU) today renewed the restrictive measures against ISIL / Daesh and Al-Qaeda and their associated individuals, groups, companies and entities, extending the duration of the sanctions regime by one 12 additional months until October 31, 2022 .

Currently, six individuals are subject to restrictive measures, which consist of ban on travel to the EU And one asset freeze . In addition, EU persons and entities are prohibits making funds and economic resources available to those listed.

The scheme allows the EU to impose targeted restrictive measures against those who commit, support and incite terrorist acts or recruit for ISIL / Daesh and Al-Qaeda or their affiliates.

These autonomous restrictive measures are complementary to the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council against ISIL / Daesh and Al-Qaida.

The decision will enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
