According to the SLED record, the FBI is also conducting an investigation into Wagener – which includes a forensic audit – in the SLED investigation, and the two agencies are working together.
“We can’t really deny or confirm an actual, definitive FBI investigation,” said Don Wood, the public issues officer for the FBI’s Columbia office.
He recommended that the newspaper submit a FOIA request, and the Aiken Standard did so May 18.
Salley spoke briefly on the record at Aiken Standard.
“SLED investigated me and the conclusion was no mistake on my part,” he said, adding that the FBI came to the same conclusion.

Salley’s son, Christopher, organized a November sit-in with the Wagener Fire Department. He denies that Miller is the problem with Wagener and announced his plans to run for mayor this year.
In a Facebook Live video created on May 17, he said Redd and Day were fired “because they didn’t like what the mayor was doing and they didn’t agree with the mayor.”
Christopher Salley also criticized Miller for failing to monitor Wagener’s finances.
“If you don’t know what’s going on and if your (Town) Council doesn’t know what’s going on, how can others know what’s going on? They don’t, (and) you won’t tell us,” aniya.
