The New Mexico Department of Health announced 5,735 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (Jan. 19), including 116 new cases in Taos County.
The state also reported 28 additional deaths on Wednesday (17 recent deaths and 11 additional deaths added from within the past 30 days), bringing the total since the start of the pandemic in New Mexico to 6,205. No new deaths were reported for Taos County, which left the total number of deaths across the county at 75. The latest person to die from COVID-19 was a woman in her 70’s who was hospitalized.
The total statewide cases stood at 425,920 with 327,914 cases designated as recovered by the New Mexico Department of Health. Currently, 626 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state.
