Watch | Alex Palmer on his Luton debut | News

Goalkeeper Alex Palmer made his Luton debut in yesterday’s defeat against Middlesbrough just hours after meeting his new team -mates for the first time.

Carrying on an emergency loan agreement, the 25-year-old explained how the move happened after the fight.

“I found out it was happening Thursday afternoon, so I went up and met them at the hotel Thursday night and trained Friday, so it came pretty quickly.

“The boys are a great group and I think you can tell they’re a loyal group and it’s been great to get a chance to go here. To be fair I’m 25, I’m got experience behind me, and I have made an emergency loan before, I know how they work.

“My job is to go here and do everything I can for Luton and I failed today but the games came thick and fast so we’ll look forward to Tuesday.”

Although he wasn’t personally familiar with any of his teammates prior to practice on Friday, Palmer admitted he saw the team play this season and said: “Obviously I’ve only been here a few times but I’ve that they have been seen to play .. I know they are an honest bunch, they work hard for each other, they’re horrible, nasty, face people but I feel like we haven’t done enough today.

“We didn’t get momentum behind us and it’s a club that’s having a lot of joy right now and they’re in great running, we have to try and go here and silence most of the first half but we did. I can’t afford to do that that. “

When given the opportunity to be featured in a first-team game, something he last managed in the EFL Cup in August, Palmer admitted: “Sometimes you have to suck it up and move on. I tried to stay in a positive mindset, train as best I could and push the goalies back to West Brom in case there were opportunities like this.

“I’ve been looking forward to this opportunity all season. I am ready for it, I know there are things I can improve and do better but you have to pick up the positives and look forward to Tuesday today.

“Things can change a lot in a week, a lot of points will be available and by the time I get here, hopefully Luton will get as many points as possible.”
